The Card Cabinet

Athle's collectible card layer, live for football, basketball and tennis. Win the daily puzzles to earn packs, open them to pull real player cards, then build a lineup whose rating climbs the better its chemistry. Here's the full breakdown.

Earning packs

Packs come from playing the games you already play. Solve the daily Guess, Grid, Bingo and Quiz and each one hands you a Premium pack, so up to four a day. Miss one and you still get a Standard consolation pack for playing. Practice rounds earn Standard packs too, capped at three per game, up to twelve a day.

Premium packs are the only ones that can contain the rarest pulls. The Cabinet is live for all three sports.

Cards and rarities

BronzeSilverGoldIcon

Every pack contains three cards drawn from the same live player data the games use, banded by how popular the player is. Football and tennis span all four tiers, Bronze up through Silver and Gold to Icon. Basketball's roster skews recognizable across the board, so it runs Silver, Gold and Icon only — no Bronze floor. Icons are always the top slice of a sport's roster and the rarest pull.

Pulling an Icon, or a football Legend, is a moment: the card gets a celebratory walkout with fireworks, so the rarest cards always feel like an event.

What a card's score actually means

A card's score (and the rarity it lands in) is not a form guide or a skill rating. It has nothing to do with current-season performance, and it is not trying to rank who is the best player. It is a popularity score: how recognizable that player is to a broad sports audience.

That popularity is a mix of notoriety and prime form. Notoriety covers the lasting stuff, major trophies, iconic moments, how long someone has been a household name, regardless of what they are doing today. Prime form covers how good they were at their peak rather than right now, so a past-their-prime veteran can still outscore an in-form player who has not yet built a reputation. A rookie having a career year will not outrank an established name off current form alone.

Legends and Coaches

⚽ football only

Beyond the current-player cards, football adds two special collect-only sets that drop from Premium packs. Legends are retired all-time greats: you can both collect them and field them in your XI.

Coaches are managers, banded Legendary or Good rather than given a rating. A Coach takes the touchline manager slot next to your XI and raises your whole squad's chemistry, more so the higher their tier. Basketball and tennis are player cards only — no Legends, no Coaches.

Build your lineup, chemistry and rating

Place cards from your Collection onto the pitch or court and your rating is the average of your starters, lifted by chemistry. Starters who share a nationality light up chemistry links between them, plus a shared club (football, basketball) or a shared turned-pro era (tennis, which has no clubs at all — real tennis players don't play for a team, so its lineup is a fantasy-squad take on the same system); more links means higher chemistry and a higher rating. Playing a card out of its natural position (or, for tennis, dominant hand) docks its rating first. Chemistry and rating are both capped at 100.

Football

Starting XI, pick a formation (4-3-3 to 5-3-2), plus Legends and a Coach.

🏀

Basketball

Fixed five: two Guards, two Forwards, one Center. No formation to pick.

Tennis

Two doubles pairs, Serve/Volley/Serve/Volley: three Right-Handed, one Left-Handed.

Where to find it

Open the Cabinet from the button in any game's toolbar, for any of the three sports. A counter appears on it whenever you have packs waiting to open. There's no account: your packs, cards, squad and stats are saved only in this browser's local storage, on this device, with each sport keeping its own separate Cabinet.

Cabinet FAQ

How do I earn packs?
Solve each day's daily Guess, Grid, Bingo and Quiz for a Premium pack each, so up to four Premium packs a day. A failed daily still gives a Standard consolation pack for playing. Practice rounds give Standard packs too, capped at three per game (up to twelve a day). Only Premium packs can contain the rarest pulls, so solving the daily is the best way to chase them.
What are Icons, Legends and Coaches?
Icons are the most popular players in a sport's roster and the rarest player cards — every sport with a Cabinet has them. Legends (retired all-time greats you can also field in your lineup) and Coaches (managers who raise your squad's chemistry from the touchline slot) are football-exclusive collect-only sets, on top of the base player pool.
How is my rating calculated?
Your rating starts as the average of your starting lineup, then rises with chemistry — starters who share a nationality light up links between them, plus a shared club (football/basketball) or turned-pro era (tennis, which has no clubs). Football's Legends and Coach add further boosts. Playing a card out of its natural position/hand docks its rating first. Chemistry and rating are both capped at 100.
Which sports have a Cabinet?
Football, basketball and tennis all have a live Cabinet — the button appears in every game's toolbar for any of the three.
Is a card's score based on current form or skill?
No. It's a popularity score, how recognizable a player is, not a form guide or a ranking of who's best right now. It's a mix of notoriety (trophies, iconic moments, how long they've been a household name) and prime form (how good they were at their peak, not their current-season numbers), so an established veteran can outscore a player who's in form today but hasn't built that reputation yet.
Where is my Cabinet actually saved? Can I lose it?
There's no account and nothing touches a server: your packs, cards, squad and stats are saved only in this browser's local storage, on this device, one Cabinet per sport. That's what lets you open it instantly with no sign-up, but it also means it's tied to this browser. Switching phones or computers, switching browsers, using private/incognito mode, or clearing this site's data (or your browser's storage/cache) will permanently remove it, with no way to bring it back. If you want to keep a Cabinet, play it on the same browser and device, and avoid clearing site data for playathle.com.
