The grid game

The Daily Grid

The Athle grid is a daily twist on the classic sports grid. Each day you get a fresh 3x3 board where every row and column is a category, and your job is to name a player who fits both at once.

It rewards real depth, not just naming the obvious star: the rarer the valid player you find for a cell, the more points you score. Solve it in as few mistakes as you can, then come back tomorrow for a new one.

How it works

Match both categories

Each cell sits where a row meets a column. Name a player who satisfies both the row category and the column category.

Three mistakes allowed

Tap a cell to see how many valid players exist, then pick one. Three wrong guesses and the grid ends.

Rarer picks score more

Every cell is worth up to 100 points, 900 in total. The more obscure the valid player you find, the higher your score.

A new grid daily

A fresh grid drops every day. Finished early? Generate your own random grid from the menu and save your favourites.

Tips to score higher

  • Start with the cell that has the fewest valid players. It is the hardest, so lock it in while you have errors to spare.
  • Chase rarity. Once you know a cell works, a lesser-known valid player beats an obvious superstar on points.
  • Use the count. Tapping a cell shows how many players fit, so you can judge how safe a guess is.
  • When the grid ends, tap any cell to browse every possible answer with its score.

There is more: the Card Cabinet

Playing Athle football, basketball or tennis unlocks a collectible layer. Every daily puzzle you finish earns a pack of real player cards (football also adds all-time Legends and Coaches), which you open and arrange into a lineup whose rating climbs with chemistry.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play the Athle grid?
You get a 3x3 board where each row and column is a category, such as a league or a nationality. For every cell, name a player who satisfies both the row and the column.
How many guesses do I get?
You can make three mistakes. When you tap a cell you'll see how many valid players exist for it, which helps you judge how risky it is.
How is the score calculated?
Each correct cell is worth up to 100 points, 900 in total. Score is based on rarity: the less popular the valid player you pick, the more points you earn.
Can I make my own grid?
Yes. From the menu, tap New random grid to generate a fresh, solvable grid, then use Add to list to save the ones you like. Saved grids stay on your device.
