Athle is a free daily guessing game for sports fans, inspired by Wordle and the wave of once-a-day puzzles it started. Every day we hide one athlete behind a blurred photo, and your job is to work out who it is from a handful of clues before the picture comes into focus.

There is one puzzle per sport per day, identical for everyone in the world, so it is a fair challenge you can share and compare with friends. No account, no downloads, no paywall. Just start guessing and try to solve today's athlete in as few turns as you can.

How to play

Guess an athlete

Type any player's name and pick from the list. Each guess uncovers more of the blurred photo.

Read the colour clues

Green is an exact match, orange is close, grey is no match. Arrows on numbers tell you higher or lower.

Use hints wisely

Reveal an attribute, uncover a career step, or clear the photo. Each hint costs one of your ten turns.

Come back daily

One fresh puzzle per sport every day, the same for everyone. Solve on consecutive days to build a streak.

Guess today's footballer from nationality, position, current league and club, plus a reveal of their career club timeline. Covers stars from the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and beyond.

Tennis

Guess the ATP or WTA player from nationality, playing hand, peak ranking, turned-pro year and Grand Slam titles. Legends and current tour players, men's and women's, all in one puzzle.

Guess the NBA player from current team, conference, draft year and position, plus a reveal of their career-team timeline. Current stars and modern legends across both conferences.

Tips to solve it faster

  • Open with a well-known player. A famous name gives you the most clues to narrow down nationality, position and era straight away.
  • Trust the orange clues. Orange means close, so a shared continent or position group is pointing you in the right direction.
  • Watch the arrows on numbers like age, draft year or ranking. They quickly bracket the answer between two of your guesses.
  • Save your hints. With only ten turns and each hint costing one, spend them when a single clue would genuinely unlock the answer.

How many guesses do I get?
You have up to ten turns per puzzle. Every guess and every hint you spend counts as one turn, so it pays to read the clues before spending them.
Is Athle free, and do I need an account?
Athle is completely free and needs no account or sign-up. Your streaks and stats are saved locally on your device, so you can just open the page and start playing.
Is there a new puzzle every day?
Yes. A fresh puzzle drops every day for each sport, and it is the same for every player worldwide, so you can compare how you did with friends.
What can I do after I finish today's puzzle?
Switch to Practice mode from the menu for endless random players, with optional filters for difficulty, league, continent and tour, so you can keep playing as long as you like.
